About Us

The Hycast story

Hycast Metals was established in 1960 with a clear purpose: to manufacture high-quality cast metal components for Australia’s growing industrial capability.

From modest beginnings as a locally focused foundry, Hycast has evolved into a leading Australian precision investment casting manufacturer. Now in its third generation of family leadership, the business has grown alongside the industries it supports — continually investing in people, technology and process to meet increasingly complex requirements.

Today, Hycast supplies high-integrity components across defence, transport, mining, energy, medical and broader engineering sectors.

More than six decades on, our foundation remains the same: disciplined process control, metallurgical excellence, and a commitment to Australian manufacturing capability.

General Manager

We have an exceptional team.

Over half our employees have been with Hycast for more than 20 years. Our workforce brings together metallurgists, engineers from diverse disciplines, and skilled second- and third-generation fettlers and furnacemen — all united by a commitment to research, learning and continuous improvement.

We invest in developing our people and their skills

New generations continue the craft through casting apprenticeships, building on decades of experience. Hycast is more than a workplace — it is a community where traditional foundry knowledge is preserved, shared and strengthened through new capabilities and technologies.

Certifications

End-to-end, in-house control for exceptional customer service

In 1991, Hycast established its NATA-accredited ISO/IEC 17025 Metals Analysis Laboratory, reinforcing our position as a technically capable, quality-driven manufacturer. This in-house capability enables independent verification of metallurgical performance and ensures traceability and specification compliance across every production run.

Hycast has maintained continuous certification to internationally recognised ISO standards for quality, safety and environmental management since 2004 — over 20 years of independently audited operational discipline.

Today, Hycast combines traditional foundry craftsmanship with advanced manufacturing technologies, including 3D printing for precision pattern development, robotic automation for improved consistency and efficiency, and integrated digital project management supporting controlled processes from enquiry through to delivery.

Proudly Australian-owned and based in Sydney, Hycast supplies critical metal components to a wide range of industry partners.
